The Goal: To redefine her style for the woman and lifestyle she has today
The Swish: Colour & Style Review + Wardrobe Edit
After 20 years working as a lawyer and then taking time out to have children, Harriet’s wardrobe had become a real mix of different chapters of her life — corporate workwear, pre- and post-children clothes, activewear and more formal pieces.
Following a milestone birthday, a renewed focus on her health and significant weight loss, Harriet was ready to rediscover her style. She wanted to understand her new shape, make the most of pieces she already owned and create a wardrobe that worked for her busy life now — from Zoom meetings to school runs, dog walks and everything in between.
1. Where Harriet Started
When Harriet first came to me, she had a wardrobe full of clothes but wasn't necessarily getting the most from them. There were lots of pieces she still liked, but she'd fallen into familiar combinations and wasn't always sure which shapes worked best for her figure. And, as we quickly discovered, she had rather a lot of navy dresses!
Rather than starting again, the opportunity was to take a fresh look at what she already owned and help her see the potential that was sitting in her wardrobe.
2. What Harriet Wanted
Harriet wanted to understand what really suited her and find new ways to wear the clothes she already had. She was keen to experiment a little more, step outside her usual comfort zone and feel more confident putting different pieces together.
The aim wasn't to create a completely new wardrobe, but to give her more outfits, more confidence and more enjoyment from what she already owned — while identifying anything genuinely missing.
3. What We Discovered
-
Harriet’s complexion perfectly aligned with the Summer colour season.
Blue was a colour Harriet felt really connected to and the soft muted tones of the Summer palette really elevated her complexion but also her wardrobe.
We brought berry pinks, ecru, navy and grey in plains, basics and prints into her wardrobe to add some contrast and options when outfit building. -
Her fabulous shape really complimented the styling of an hourglass.
The aim was to enhance the natural balance to her curves in a way that not only looked fabulous but gave Harriet confidence in her body and style. -
Classic styling with touches of femininity through accessories, softness of silhouette and detailing enabled Harriet to shine but also feel comfortable in herself
-
Quality, well fitting basics were really missing from Harriets wardrobe, limiting her options and making outfit building quite challenging.
There were many gorgeous ‘magpie’ pieces but lacked the foundation items to help them shine. -
Once we had the basics in place and Harriet could clearly see herself represented in her wardrobe she fell in love with creating so many outfits! As someone who enjoyed clothes before but had felt lost through life changes and motherhood, Harriet rediscovered her love for dressing up!
4. The Results
By the end of our session, we’d found so many new ways for Harriet to wear the clothes she already owned. She had a much clearer understanding of the shapes that worked for her and felt more confident experimenting with combinations outside her usual comfort zone. We’d tackled her summer wardrobe, and she was so pleased with the results that we booked another session to do the same with her autumn/winter wardrobe.
“What was particularly great was discovering, with Alice’s expert help, new outfits from old clothes – putting together different combos to create new looks and to take me out of my comfort zone to understand better how I can dress my figure to make the most of it.”

5. Final Thoughts
What I loved about working with Harriet was showing her that great style doesn’t have to mean buying a whole new wardrobe. So much of what she needed was already there — it was about seeing those pieces differently, understanding what really worked for her and having the confidence to try new combinations.
And the fact that we’re doing it all again for autumn/winter? I think that says it all!
